The crows are sending their sharp and commanding caws through the spring-like weather here in Harrison County this morning. By the time you read this, it could be snowing or emitting a heat wave but today it is balmy and warm during a February dawning of the sun.

‘Tis the season for more than decking the halls


If this is 'the season to be jolly,' how come I can't find all the parts to my artificial Christmas tree that friends gave me when they 'downsized' their home and moved south? And why, if we are to be 'jolly,' did the stray cat we decided to nurture allow a raccoon to join him in tearing into the pet food stored in the garage? And how could I have lost my new red hat at Light Up Corydon if this is a carefree, fun season?

It seems that much of the news these days is about who is permitted to come and who is permitted to go. Maybe it has always been that way. After all, the Bible starts with the casting of Adam and Eve out of the Garden of Eden. In other words, they were deported from a great place to live because they didn't follow the rules.
