Imogene Voyles


Imogene (Gene) Crockett Voyles died on Friday, Jan. 27, 2023, at Hosparus Health in Louisville, Ky., following a brief illness.
She was born June 8, 1941, in Jamestown, Tenn., the daughter of Bates Crockett and Lucy Hatfield Crockett.
Gene was a retired funeral director and graduate of John A Gupton College with a degree in mortuary science. She loved cooking and entertaining loved ones and was always accompanied by her Silky Terrier, Max, or cat, Bruiser. She was an accomplished seamstress, gardener and talented stain-glass and jewelery maker. She had a generous heart and was a good friend to many. Her larger-than-life personality made her the life of every party. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Surviving are her two sisters, Phyllis and Clara; four children, Greg Boiles (Dr. Ellen Schecter), Lagina Winders (Dr. Mark), Erica Fischer and Andrea Boiles; grandchildren, Kyunga Hyde, Eli Krawciw, Billy Sabelhaus (Hailey), David Fischer, Isaac Sabelhaus, Carissa Fischer Dupont (Ty), Olivia Gogel, Ilyssa Gogel, Liam Gogel, Audra Gogel, Layla Bloyd and Tessa Bloyd; and nine great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Johnnie Ray Voyles; her parents; her brothers, Odell Crockett, Clarence Crockett, Bill Crockett and Harold Crockett; and grandson, Gregory Kyle Krawciw.
A private family gathering and scattering of ashes will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider memorial contributions to the Shriners Hospital for Children or to a charity of your choice.
In honor her well-lived life, we would also encourage every one of you to hug your loved ones and savor every moment you are given on this glorious earth.
