HCPL lists February adult programs
Harrison County Public Library artist Nikki Esarey will lead cardinal painting classes for adults at each library location during the months of February and March. She will guide participants step by step through the painting. All materials will be provided. Registration is required and space is limited. Class times will be Wednesday, Feb. 8, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Corydon; Saturday, Feb. 25, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Elizabeth branch; Thursday, March 2, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Palmyra branch; and Tuesday, March 7, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Lanesville branch.
The library is partnering with the Harrison County Purdue Extension Office to host programming in February.
Dining with Diabetes, a program to teach ways to manage type 2 diabetes, will be at the Elizabeth branch on Thursdays, Feb. 2, 9, 16 and 23, from 6 to 8 p.m. Cost is $40 per individual or $65 per couple. Call 812-738-4236 for more information.
Eat Smart, Live Strong allows participants a chance to sample heart-healthy recipes, learn about healthy eating options and participate in light physical activity on Wednesday, Feb. 22, from 11 a.m. to noon at Corydon.

Scrapbooking Memories — Thursday, Feb. 2, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Lanesville branch. Bring a scrapbooking project to work on and socialize with others.
Anything Goes Craft Day — Saturday, Feb. 4, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Lanesville branch. Bring a craft project to work on and socialize with others.
Just Desserts — Monday, Feb. 6, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Corydon; participants will bring a themed dessert to share along with the recipe used to create it. They will sample each other’s desserts and collect copies of each recipe. The theme for February is Candy. Registration is required.
Memories & Memoirs Book Club — Tuesday, Feb. 7, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. at Corydon; this book club is for lovers of historical and biographical books. The February book is “The Soloist.”
Books & Bagels — Friday, Feb. 10, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at Corydon; choose any book from the HCPL collection to read then come enjoy a bagel and be prepared to share an overview and thoughts about the book.
Manga & Anime Club — Saturday, Feb. 11, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at Corydon. The manga for February is “Doubt” by Yoshiki Tonogai.
Creative Cards — Monday, Feb. 13, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Lanesville branch and Thursday, Feb. 16, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Palmyra branch; create hand-made cards to take home; all materials are included.
Puzzle PALooza — Wednesday, Feb. 15, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Corydon; join this program to work on puzzles and socialize with others.
Cook Book Club — Thursday, Feb. 16, from noon to 1:30 p.m. at Corydon; participants will bring a themed dish (main or side) to share along with the recipe used to create it. They will sample each other’s dishes and collect copies of each recipe. The theme for February is Pasta/Italian. Registration is required.
Clever Crafts — Thursday, Feb. 16, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at Corydon; create clever crafts. All materials will be provided, including instructions and help if needed. Craft for February is a Pine Cone Flower Frame. Registration is required.
Cooking with Class — Tuesday, Feb. 21, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Lanesville branch; experiment with new ingredients, prepare dishes and learn various ways to create meals. The focus for February will be Heart Healthy Foods.
Junk Journaling — Wednesday, Feb. 22, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Lanesville branch; create a junk journal from recycled and found materials and design pages to be used for writing, drawing, recording memories or anything else.
Not Your Mother’s Book Club — Thursday, Feb. 23, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Palmyra branch. The February book is “The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo” by Taylor Jenkins Reid.
Mystery Book Club — Monday, Feb. 27, from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Lanesville branch. The February book is “Aunt Dimity’s Death.”
What’s Your Angle? — Monday, Feb. 27, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and Wednesday, March 1, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at Corydon; share photos, tips and ideas while developing photography skills. The challenge for February is Red.
English as a Second Language/Ingles como segundo idioma — Thursdays, Feb. 9 and 23, from 5 to 6 p.m. and Tuesdays, Feb. 14 and 28, from 11 a.m. to noon at Corydon. This program is intended for adult learners wanting to improve their English language skills.
Stitches in Time/Sit & Stitch — Tuesdays from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Corydon, Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Palmyra branch and Thursdays from 2 to 4 p.m. at Lanesville branch; bring a current project or start something new. Attendees work at their own pace and enjoy the company of others.

The Harrison County Public Library Board of Trustees will meet Thursday, Feb. 23, at 3 p.m. at Corydon.
The library and all of its branches will be closed Monday, Feb. 20, for Presidents Day.
