Harrison County Community Foundation provides the tools new and experienced non-profit board members need to succeed in their role. HCCF will have this one-day same non-profit board governance training session four different times in 2023.

The dates will be Saturday, Feb. 18; Tuesday, April 18; Saturday, Aug. 19; and Tuesday, Oct. 17. Each session will last from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Foundation’s conference room. Lunch will be provided.

Nonprofits applying for grant funding through HCCF are required to have at least one current board member who has completed an HCCF-approved non-profit board governance training program.

Besides this requirement, HCCF encourages non-profit board and staff members to take advantage of this training opportunity to increase their knowledge.

Participants must attend the full day of the training to earn a certificate of completion.

The cost of the training is $100, which will be refunded after successful completion of the training.

The training session will be led by Ed Cortas, Center for Nonprofit Excellence vice president of Strategic Initiatives & Consulting.

Participants will learn how a board of directors can best make decisions that steer the nonprofit’s work. They will also learn about board members’ legal duties and responsibilities and how they are accountable to the Internal Revenue Service, the state Attorney General and the communities they serve.

For more information or to sign up for the board training opportunity, contact Sarah Travis, Office Manager, at 812-738-6668 or by email at [email protected], or register online at hccfindiana.org/events.
