James R. Kost

James (Jimmy) Russell Kost, age 75, Palmyra, Ind., passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2023.

He was born on Oct. 8, 1947, in Central Barren, Ind., to William and Lena Helen Jackson Kost.

Jimmy was a graduate of Morgan Township School in Central Barren. He was a United States Army veteran and Purple Heart recipient for his service overseas in Vietnam. Jimmy owned and operated the Kost Family Farm located in Palmyra. He was a member of the Central Barren United Methodist Church. Jimmy enjoyed spending time with his niece, Deneen, and going out to eat.

He is preceded in death by his parents; twin sister, Joan; sister, Joyce; and one brother, Nelson.

He is survived by his niece, Deneen Mollet, and many other nieces, nephews, cousin, great-nieces and great-nephews, as well as several faithful companions his beloved cats.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2023, at Love Funeral Home in Palmyra.

Visitation will be held on the same day from 10 a.m. until time of service.
