A few sprinkles of rain meant little within the confines of the facility at Crawford County Community Park last Tuesday night when the Wolfpack hosted rivals North Harrison and Corydon Central for their annual three-way wrestling meet.
As has been the case in years past, the Panthers had the best showing of the three squads, starting by pummeling the Cougars 72-12 before the junior varsity squad scraped by the host Wolfpack 30-24. Sandwiched between the two outcomes was the Cougars salvaging a 60-12 victory over the Wolfpack.
In the opening bout, the Panthers wasted no time building a large lead with a few early forfeits, along with pinfall victories for Layne Owen, Jayden Owsley, Zane Schreck, Justin Ray, Ben Boman, Evan Haag, Jonas Sutton, Bryce Gentry and Isaac Gerdon. The Cougars were able to salvage victories by pinfall courtesy of Nevin Bolen at 195 and Payton King at 220.
Bolen and King each went 2-0 on the night as they also recorded pins against the Wolfpack, as did Jacob Whitlock at 160. The Wolfpack managed a victory courtesy of Eli Pollen at 126. Pollen recorded a second pin against the Panthers’ Calib Ren to go 2-0 on the evening, while Cameron Miller picked up a pinfall at 160 for the Panthers. Forfeits resulted in the remaining points for the Panthers in their 30-24 victory.
