The Harrison County Parks Dept. will offer its sixth annual Merry Country Christmas beginning Friday and continuing through Dec. 18.

Merry Country Christmas will feature hayrides that depart from in front of the Ethel Wright Interpretive Center at 126 E. Walnut St. in downtown Corydon and travel to Hayswood Nature Reserve where guests will pass through a light show. Departure times will be 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. Thursdays through Sundays and 6:30, 7:30, 8:30 and 9:30 on Fridays and Saturdays.

The Christmas Village will take place again this year but is being relocated to the Blaine H. Wiseman Visitor Center parking lot. It will be open Fridays and Saturdays, beginning Nov. 24, for three weekends, opening at 5 p.m. on Fridays and 11 a.m. on Saturdays.

The village huts will be filled with various vendors and crafters displaying Christmas goods.

New this year is Dinner at the Clauses, hosted by the Harrison County Discovery Center.

Guests, along with Santa and Mrs. Claus, will be seated at an early Victorian dining room table and will be served a meal direct from the books of the North Pole.

Cost is $25 per person, and tickets can be purchased online at

Seating is very limited, and reservations should be made as soon as possible, organizers said.

Dinner dates are Nov. 26 and Dec. 2, 3, 9, 10, 16 and 17 with seatings at 5 and 7 p.m.
