Those who enjoy puzzles and photography may be interested in new programs the Harrison County Public Library will begin offering next month.

Beginning Monday, Dec. 5, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Corydon location, those 18 and older are invited to drop in for Puzzle PALooza. During this monthly program, participants will work on jigsaw puzzles and socialize.

Whether one is a novice or a more experienced photographer, join the program What’s Your Angle? to share photos, ideas and tips while developing photography skills. Each month will highlight a new challenge for participants. The challenge for the 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28, session at the Corydon location will be What Makes You Merry? Any type of camera may be used.

Other December adult programs will include (all programs are free unless noted otherwise):

Scrapbooking Memories — Thursday, Dec. 1, at 6 p.m. at the Lanesville branch. Bring a scrapbooking project to work on and socialize with others.

Memories & Memoirs Book Club — Tuesday, Dec. 6, at 3 p.m. at Corydon; this book club is for lovers of historical and biographical books. The December book is “The Library Book” by Susan Orlean.

Clever Crafts — Tuesday, Dec. 6, at 6 p.m. at Corydon, come create clever crafts. All materials will be provided, including instructions and help if needed. Craft for December is a holiday charger plate. Registration is required.

Tuesday Take-Out — Tuesday, Dec. 6, register to pick up a bag at the Elizabeth branch that will include everything needed to bake an Orange Cranberry Breakfast Cake.

Junk Journaling — Wednesday, Dec. 7, at 5 p.m. at Lanesville branch, join this class to create a junk journal from recycled and found materials. Design pages to be used for writing, drawing, recording memories or anything else.

Books & Bagels — Friday, Dec. 9, at 9:30 a.m. at Corydon, choose any book from the HCPL collection to read then come enjoy a bagel and be prepared to share an overview and thoughts about the book.

Manga & Anime Club — Saturday, Dec. 10, at 1 p.m. at Corydon. The manga for December is “Hetalia Axis Powers Vol. 1” by Hidekaz Himaruya.

Just Desserts — Monday, Dec. 12, at 2 p.m. at Corydon, participants will bring a themed dessert to share along with the recipe used to create it. They will sample each other’s desserts and collect copies of each recipe. The theme for December is Cookies. Registration is required.

Card Class — Monday, Dec. 12, at 6 p.m. at Lanesville branch and Thursday, Dec. 15, at 11 a.m. at Palmyra branch, join this class to create hand-made cards to take home; all materials are included.

Cook Book Club — Thursday, Dec. 15, from noon to 1:30 at Corydon, participants will bring a themed dish (main or side) to share along with the recipe used to create it. They will sample each other’s dishes and collect copies of each recipe. The theme for December is Breakfast. Registration is required.

Mystery Book Club — Monday, Dec. 19, at 2 p.m. at Lanesville. The December book is “The Lincoln Lawyer” by Michael Connelly.

English as a Second Language/Ingles como segundo idioma — Thursdays, Dec. 1, 15 and 29, at 5 p.m. and Tuesdays, Dec. 6 and 20, at 11 p.m. at Corydon. This program is intended for adult learners wanting to improve their English language skills in order to help them work and fully participate in the life of their communities. The hour-long program is facilitated by experienced volunteer teacher Elizabeth Redding.

Stitches in Time/Sit & Stitch — Tuesdays from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Corydon, Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Palmyra branch and Thursdays from 2 to 4 p.m. at Lanesville branch, bring a current project or start something new; attendees work at their own pace and enjoy the company of others.

The Harrison County Public Library Board of Trustees will meet Thursday, Dec. 15, at 3 p.m. at Corydon.

All library locations will be closed Saturday, Dec. 24, for Christmas Eve, Monday, Dec. 26 for Christmas, Saturday, Dec. 31, for New Year’s Eve and Monday, Jan. 2, for New Year’s.
