Judith A. Kingsley Judith A. Kingsley

Judith Anne Kingsley, 82, Corydon, Ind., with her family by her side, passed away peacefully on Friday, Nov. 4, 2022.

Judy was born in Decatur, Ill., on Sept. 4, 1940, the daughter of Melvin and Opal Slaten Jackson.

She was loving and devoted to her children, grandchildren and her faith. She loved and was loved by everyone she met. Always a hard worker, Judy worked at the Indiana Armory Ammunition Plant in Charlestown, Ind., until its closing. She then opened Kingsley’s General Store and later worked as a cook at the Riverbottom Inn, both in Mauckport, Ind. She loved cruising the Ohio and Mississippi rivers and became a cook for American Commercial Barge Lines, Jeffersonville, Ind., and later was kitchen manager for the Harrison County Sheriff’s Dept. In her spare time, for more than 50 years, she catered numerous events throughout the community. Judy was known for her strong character, adventurous spirit, witty sense of humor and generous community service. Her hobbies were finding second-hand treasures, quilting, reading and creative art.

Judy lived life to the fullest, but nothing compared to the love she had for her two surviving children, son Timothy Kingsley of Corydon and daughter Holly Kingsley of Mauckport; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and the father of her children, Stanley Kingsley of Mauckport.

She was a legend.

A memorial visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 20, 2022, at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon.
