The annual Cluckers Battle at the First Capital at Corydon Central High School is slated to kick off Friday night and conclude the following evening.

This year’s edition of the tournament includes a trio of ranked squads, including the host Lady Panthers, the defending tournament champs who enter the week ranked No. 8 in Class 3A. Joining them is county-rival Lanesville, entering its second straight week as No. 1 in Class 1A, along with East Central, which is currently No. 9 in Class 4A.

The first night will kickoff with the aforementioned Lady Eagles taking on head coach Angie Hinton’s former squad in New Albany in the high school gym at 6:30 p.m. while the junior high gym will see Jeffersonville take on Southridge. Following those games, the Lady Panthers will confront Crawford County in the high school gym and East Central will confront Evansville Central at 8:15 p.m.

The semifinals of the winner’s and consolation brackets will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday with the former bracket taking place in the high school gym and the latter in the junior high gym. Should the Lady Eagles and Lady Panthers win their opening-round matchups, the two squads will meet in the first semi-final game in a rematch of last year’s championship contest.

The second set of semifinals will begin at noon before a short break takes place for all teams. The next set of game times are set for 5:30 p.m. when the high school gym will host the third-place game and the junior high game will be the site of the seventh-place game.

Lastly, the fifth-place game will take place in the junior high gym at 7:30 p.m. while the championship game will be in the high school gym at the same time.

Admission prices are $6 per session along with All-Session Passes that can be purchased for $15 on Friday night. All ticket sales are cash only.
