On Sunday evening, the Indiana High School Athletic Association announced sectional pairings for both boys and girls soccer as part of the 29th annual State Championship Pairings Show on the IHSAA Champions Network, presented by Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance.

This year’s postseason will see a record number of participating teams on both sides, with 305 teams qualifying for the boys’ tournament and 273 girls’ squads fighting for hardware. Those beat the previous records of 301 for the boys’ tournament in 2017 and 2019 alongside the girls’ record of 272 in 2019.

On the boys’ side, the 3A sectional in Seymour will begin with Floyd Central opening post-season play against Jennings County, followed by New Albany vs. Jeffersonville. The winners will square off in the semifinals for a chance to face the winner of the host Owls and Bedford North Lawrence in the championship game.

In 2A, North Harrison drew the bye in the seven-team field, where the Cougars will face the winner of Scottsburg and Charlestown. Corydon Central, meanwhile, will have a tough task when the Panthers confront Silver Creek, which edged them out in the postseason a year ago. The winner of that contest will confront the winner of Salem and Class 2A newcomer and host Providence, which currently hold a 10-year sectional winning streak during its time in 1A.

In 1A, Lanesville drew one of two first-round byes and will face Austin in the second semi-final match. The winner will move on to the championship match.

In the girls’ field, Floyd Central will open the 3A sectional at New Albany against Jeffersonville for a chance to face the winner of Seymour and the host Lady Bulldogs in the semifinal. That winner will face the winner of Bedford North Lawrence and Jennings County in the championship.

In 2A, Corydon Central, considered one of the favorites in the Scottsburg sectional, drew the first-round bye and will face Salem in the semifinals. North Harrison, meanwhile, will open the sectional against Charlestown for a chance to face the winner of the host Warriorettes and Silver Creek in the semifinals.

Times for sectional matches were unavailable by press time Monday.
