All hands were on deck Sept. 16 for the 46th annual Carnival for Cancer event at Fountain United Methodist Church west of Corydon as the community came together to help the Blue River All Stars 4-H Club and Blue River Hills Extension Homemakers raise $10,238 for the American Cancer Society.

Proceeds from the 46th carnival will be matched by the Harrison County Community Foundation through the Betty Goldman Endowment for a total of $20,476.

That’s enough to push the total funds raised in 46 years over $250,000.

The event, which takes place annually on the third Friday in September, included a chili supper, carnival games, a silent and live auction, sweet shop, yard sale, cake walk and performance by the Corydon Dulcimers.

The Blue River All Stars 4-H Club also received a grant from the Harrison County Youth Philanthropy Council to purchase additional tables, chairs and tents as the Carnival for Cancer continues to grow.
