Ardella R. McCutcheon Dodge, age 90, Depauw, Ind., passed away Monday, Sept. 26, 2022, with her family surrounding her, at the Harrison Springs Health Care Campus, Corydon, Ind.

She was born in Hancock Chapel, Ind., to Pearl I. Vance and Thomas McCutcheon, on Aug. 2, 1932.

She graduated from Depauw High School, Depauw, in 1949. She was more than a housewife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a fantastic cook and baker. She also loved to crochet and could create almost anything with yarn and a crochet hook. She was very active in various community organizations. She dearly loved sports and watching Indiana University basketball. She was a member of the Hancock Chapel United Methodist Church. She was real proud to be a 62-year member of the Indiana Extension Homemaker Association’s Depauw Club, where she was the last surviving charter member.

Ardella is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 48 years, Kenneth R. Dodge; her brothers, Marvin W. McCutcheon and Harold L. McCutcheon, and sister, Alliene M. Wetzel; her sisters-in-law, Barbara B. McCutcheon and Diana J. McCutcheon; brother-in-law, Gaylord Wetzel; and granddaughter, Elizabeth A. Dodge.

Survivors include son Douglas R. Dodge (Maria); daughter Marcia K. Dodge; grandchildren James D. Dodge (Carey), Brian D. Dodge (Amanda), Matthew R. Dodge, Jason Coffman (Amanda), David J. Coffman (Hannah) and Michael Coffman (Lindsay); and great-grandchildren Luke Dodge, Taylor Dodge, Lilly Dodge, Caleigh Chalk, Brandon Dodge, Hunter Dodge, Hayden Dodge, Hank Noland, Summer Dodge, Autumn Dodge, Brynn Coffman, Reese Coffman, Briar Coffman, Radia Coffman, Beckham Coffman, Ryder Coffman and Charlie Jo Coffman.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, 2022, at Swarens Funeral Home, 1405 Highway 64 NW, Ramsey, Ind., with burial in Hancock Chapel Cemetery, Depauw. Pastor Toney McCutcheon and Pastor Lary Cropper will officiate. Pallbearers will be James D. Dodge, Brian D. Dodge, Matthew R. Dodge, LeRoy G. Wetzel, Carlton R. Wetzel and Phil A. Smith.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, 2022, and after 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, 2022.

The family would like to thank the physicians, nurses, technicians and comfort care givers shown to us by Kindred Hospice, Harrison Springs Health Care Campus and Baptist Floyd Hospital.

Since red was Ardella’s favorite color, the family would like to request everyone wear some type of red to her service as we celebrate her life.
