Irma E. Bell, 97, Corydon, Ind., passed away Sunday, Sept. 18, 2022, at Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany, Ind.

She was born Feb. 2, 1925, in Corydon, the daughter of Oscar and Bertha Blank Schneider.

She was a teletype operator for Western Union, a seamstress at Seinsheimers shirt factory and worked full time on the farm. She walked through the fields as a child every day to No. 7 schoolhouse. She was an exquisite seamstress, loved cross stitch and made many blankets and quilts for many people. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and was a member of the Ladies Aide at the church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul A. Bell; and siblings, Paul Schneider, Pearl Williams, LaVerne Wagoner, Helen Gleitz and Ruth Foreman.

She is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, 2022, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lanesville, Ind. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23, 2022, and from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon.

Pallbearers will be Donald Foreman, Jerry Schneider, Terry Williams, Monty and Kyle Gleitz, Glenn Schneider and Doug Wagoner.

The family suggests memorial gifts to St. John’s Lutheran Church.
