A year after claiming the Mid-Southern Conference title, the Corydon Central girls’ golf team defended their title in dominant fashion.

Traveling to Shadowood Golf Course in Seymour, the Lady Panthers felt as if they were playing at Old Capital Golf Club in Corydon when they started their round. Led by sophomore Emma Rowland, who finished with an event-best 80, the Lady Panthers captured four of the top five spots to run away with a combined score of 369.

Alongside Rowland’s second straight conference title, senior Abby Russel finished runner-up by shooting an 89. Host Brownstown Central’s Gracie Reynolds claimed third place with a 93, while Lady Panthers’ freshmen Kloe Mathes and Madison Stilwell rounded out the top five with scores of 99 and 101, respectively.

The host Lady Braves finished second overall with a score of 425, led by the aforementioned Reynolds. Like the Lady Panthers, the Lady Braves named four all-conference as Abby Schroer, Emma Hughbanks, and Jayda Clodfelder rounded out the top nine, followed by an honorable mention finish by Megan VonDielingen.

North Harrison brought up the rear of the six schools to field full squads, finishing with a combined score of 519. Addie Reynolds led the way for the Lady Cats as she shot a 121, tying with Scottsburg’s Emily Foster for the final spot on the All-MSC Honorable Mentions list.

Following Reynolds’ team-best was Olivia Abner, who shot a 131. Brooke Hergenrather was right behind with a 132, while Isabell Abner finished with a 135.

The Lady Panthers will conclude their regular season tonight (Wednesday) when they host Providence and Floyd Central in a three-way match at Old Capital Golf Club. Both the Lady Panthers and Lady Cats will find themselves there on Saturday when they take part in the annual Indiana High School Athletic Association Sectional 29. Tee time for sectional is set for 8 a.m.
