Fund-raising event for cancer society returns
The Carnival for Cancer will be Friday, Sept. 16, at Fountain United Methodist Church, located 6-1/2 miles west of Corydon (take S.R. 62 to Harrison Springs Road, turn right; there will be signs).
The outdoor event will include a chili supper (chili, hot dogs, desserts and drinks for a free-will offering), carnival games (most cost 10 cents), a silent auction, yard sale, sweet shop and performance by the Corydon Dulcimers, all of which begin at 5 p.m.
At 6, there will be a cake walk.
There will be a live auction at 6:30 pm conducted by Eric Stroud. Items for the auction as well as a silent auctions have been donated by local businesses and individuals.
The event, jointly sponsored by the Blue River All Stars 4-H and the Blue River Hills Extension Homemakers, raises money for the American Cancer Society. Cumulative returns, including revenue from past carnival proceeds, should surpass the $250,000 total this year. All proceeds will be matched by the Harrison County Community Foundation through the Betty Goldman Endowment Fund.
The event is open to the public.
