After a strong showing at the state finals a week earlier, Capital Aquatics finished off its summer season at the Indiana Central West Divisional Championship swim meet July 29 through 31 in Crawfordsville.

Fifteen swimmers represented Capital Aquatics in Crawfordsville, with four of them bringing home a total of 22 individual medals between them. Isaac and Malachi Mikel won six medals apiece. Malachi Mikel’s top performances included a first-place finish in the 50-yard backstroke, second in the 200-yard individual medley and third in both the 100-yard butterfly and 200-yard freestyle.

Isaac Mikel had a second-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke and third-place finishes in the 100-yard and 200-yard backstrokes, 100-yard breaststroke and 400-yard individual medley.

On the girls’ side, Breck Wolfe won five medals, including a first-place finish in the 400-yard individual medley and third in the 100-yard backstroke. Isabel Tunney had five medals of her own, including finishing second in the 400-yard individual medley and third in the 200-yard backstroke.

Isaac Mikel, Nicola Gancehv, Royce Apple and Sam Byers did well, claiming the top spot in the 200-yard medley relay.

With the summer season having drawn to a close, Capital Aquatics is taking off the month of August. Once the calendar flips to September, the program will return to begin its fall/winter season.
