John William Stiner, 92, of New Albany, Ind., died Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at Hampton Oaks Health Center in Scottsburg, Ind.

He was born Sept. 12, 1929, to the late Edith Kannapel Stiner and Otto Stiner of New Middletown, Ind.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Francis Stiner, and a sister, Catherine, all of New Middletown, and a son, James Nale of Salem, Ind.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Doris Porter Stiner; sons, William Edward Stiner (Michelle) of Little York, Ind., and Charles Nale (Jackie) of Bedford, Ky.; daughter, Debra Strunk (James) of Sellersburg, Ind.; daughter-in-law, Karen Martin Nale of Salem; eight grandchildren, Desiree Tudder (Jory), Angie Willard, Michael Strunk, David Nale (Heather), Missy Williams (David), Alexandria Clifton (Zac), Samantha Wood (Zac) and Cody Thompson (Journey); six great-grandchildren, Abby Snyder, Cory Smith, Gavin and Ian Tudder, Maddie Williams and Lincoln, who is “one on the way”; brothers, George Stiner (Mary Lois) of Corydon, Ind., and Merlin Stiner of New Middletown; sister, Mary Waynescott of New Middletown; and several nieces and nephews.

He was a Korean War veteran, who served in the United States Army. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in New Albany. He worked for Bruce Fox Co. in New Albany for over 36 years.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, July 25, 2022, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany).

His funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with burial to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park.
