While the girls’ golf season doesn’t begin until next week, that didn’t stop a pair of Corydon Central Lady Panthers from showing out at the Indiana Junior Golf Tournament at Country Oaks Golf Club in Montgomery last Tuesday.

Taking part in the girls’ 13-15 division, incoming Lady Panthers’ Emma Rowland is building up for what’s expected to be a strong sophomore year.

Rowland edged out Greenwood’s Magnolia Miller by a stroke to take medalist honors, finishing with a +10.

She was followed by Khloe Mathes, a member of the Lady Panthers’ Class of 2026, who finished third with a +19.

On the boys’ side, Eli Rowland, a member of the Panthers’ Class of 2027, finished sixth in the boys’ 13-15 division with a +13.

Floyd Central incoming junior Gabe Lamb also took part in the event under the boys’ 16-19 division but did not finish.

While most high school sports begin practice on Monday, girls’ golf will start three days earlier, beginning practice on Friday.
