After spending much of the summer as an uncommitted high school graduate, Lanesville alumnus Brandon Gibson is set to continue his academic and baseball career at Brescia University in Owensboro, Ky.

Gibson, a right-handed pitcher and first baseman, previously played at Floyd Central before playing out his senior year at Lanesville. In his lone year with the Eagles, Gibson hit .453/.517/.667 with three home runs and 16 RBIs in 75 at-bats as he helped lead the Eagles to the sectional championship game before falling to eventual champion Borden.

Despite the strong offensive stats, Gibson struggled on the mound in 2022, going 2-1 with a 10.26 ERA and a 14/19 K/BB ratio in 14-1/3 innings (eight appearances).

The Bearcats finished the 2022 season with an overall record of 19-28-1. They fared no better in a competitive River States Conference, finishing seventh in the nine-team field at 6-18 in conference play.
