North Harrison senior Cole Hergenrather is the latest in a number of Harrison County athletes committed to continuing their academic and athletic careers as he signed his National Letter of Intent to play golf at Oakland City University last Tuesday.

Hergenrather, the son of Joseph and Rachel Hergenrather, reportedly had several colleges interested in recruiting him. While the exact number was not given, he noted that “probably two or three” had serious interest. After his official visit there during the past summer, the New Salisbury resident decided on Oakland City due to its similarities and proximity to his hometown.

“I decided on Oakland City because the community and environment is small and close. It also will give me an opportunity to have better relationships with teachers and coaches. I also will be pretty close to home,” Hergenrather said.
