Recently, the wind blew 30 to 40 mph and lifted some remaining leaves off the ground. They appeared like birds flying in the air. Although our world is changing, one person remains the same. Our sweet Lord Jesus Christ never changes. He is amazing.

The 1961 South Central classmates’ luncheon group would like to pick up where we left off. We enjoy being together and fellowshipping. Our 60th class reunion in September was well attended with 18 classmates, as well as eight husbands and wives.

I received a letter from Lois Baumgartle, my cousin’s wife, of Appleton, Wis. She sent a brochure of my cousin Kenneth Murle Baumgartle’s celebration of life on Oct. 9, 2021, at Zoar Community Church in Corydon. He was born Aug. 11, 1932, in Henderson County, Ill., and passed away on March 23, 2020, in Little Chute, Wis. Lois also sent me a part of his biography.

Recently, I talked with our son, Karl, and family in Washington state. They are doing well. Since it rains a lot there, the grass grows. He shared that he plans on mowing this week. A year or so ago, they purchased a house in the country in Maple Valley, Wash. They are renovating the whole house. They have fruit trees and woods where deer, bears and other critters roam.

Keep thoughts of His soon return before you as you worship and prepare for the coming year, remembering that the hope of His return helps to keep life’s hardships in perspective.
