Beta Chi Associates continue community support

The Beta Chi Associates chapter of Kappa Kappa Kappa met March 8 at Corydon United Methodist Church. Chapter president Betty Stem called the meeting to order and led discussions.

Pecan sales continue to be Beta Chi’s main fundraiser, allowing the chapter to support many community needs and organizations.

Chapter treasurer Donna Oexman reported several local banks and businesses that display the pecans have requested more bags this year.

Monthly donations to Harrison County Community Services helped provide for more than 500 families last year. Beta Chi members contributed pasta and sauces this month.

Debbie Koenig, chapter historian, noted that, in 1989, Beta Chi was the first Associate chapter in the state to donate to Riley Children’s Hospital. The chapter’s yearly membership in Riley Cheer Guild continues that support.

The memorial book committee met with Harrison County Public Library staff and will purchase and donate books honoring family members.

A St. Patrick’s Day theme for the meeting included an Irish proverbs game and “green” refreshments. Janet Kelley was the winner of a potted shamrock plant.
