Ralph E. Wolfe
Ralph (Muggs) Edward Wolfe, 95, of Oxford, Ind., died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2022.
He was born Jan. 7, 1927, in Corydon, Ind., to the late William J. and Alda Cline Wolfe.
He attended Oxford High School until he enlisted in the United States Army during World War II. He eventually received his diploma from the former Oxford High School in 2009. He married Caroline Finch on Aug. 15, 1947, in Oxford; she preceded him in death on July 10, 2020.
Muggs formerly owned Wolfe’s Bar in Oxford and was a bus driver for Benton Community School Corp. for 20-plus years, retiring in 2003. He was a member of the Oxford Federated Church, Fowler American Legion Post No. 57 and the United States Trotting Association. He was his grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s biggest fan. Muggs was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan and a proud Lady Bisons’ supporter. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved his horses, breeding, training and racing standard-breed pacers. He was proud of Holly’s Upset time of 1:55 in July of 1998. Muggs never meet a stranger, and he always carried candy in his pocket to hand out and will be dearly missed.
Surviving are a daughter, Lynn Boehle (Rick); four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by a son, James Alan Wolfe; four brothers, Harvey, Virgil, Arnold and Donald Wolfe; three sisters, Catherine Wolfe, Mildred Brooks and Leona Armstrong; and a granddaughter-in-law, Heather Boehle.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 24, 2022, at Justus Cemetery, 805 S. Howard St., Oxford, with Glenn Bussa officiating and military honors by the Fowler American Legion Post No. 57.
