Bill (Wild Bill) Power, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather, passed from this life at his home in Lanesville, Ind., to his heavenly home on Thursday, Feb. 17, 2022, at the age of 92.
He was born, youngest and 10th child, to Arthur and Emma Power on May 4, 1929, in Fort Worth, Texas.
At the age of 18, he surrendered his life to Jesus Christ and accepted the call of his Lord to be a minister of the Gospel. For 70-plus years, he has shared that gospel all across the North American continent, first as a pastor to numerous churches in Texas, Colorado, Kansas and Indiana. In his later years, he served his Lord by preaching on mission trips to Mexico and Central and South America.
He was a part of the Dayspring Emmaus Community, sponsoring and serving many family and friends on their Emmaus Walk. He also served as a minister in the REC (Residents Encounter Christ) Community, sharing Christ with those incarcerated and with the FFW (Freed From Within) Community, continuing to share Christ when men had been released from prison to start their new lives in Christ.
He was preceded in death by Shirley Power, his first wife of 54 years; his grandson, Jason Leonard; his sons-in-law, John Parrish and Tim Leonard; and his daughter-in-law, Barb Power.
He is survived by his second wife of 16 years, Margaret Power of Lanesville; his five children, Patricia Parrish, Kathy Leonard, Michael Power, Linda Zukas, and her husband Timothy, and Tom Power, his youngest; his two “bonus” daughters, Cassie Campbell, and her husband Bennett, and Joyce Kintner, and her husband John; 13 grandchildren, Nathan Wall, and his wife Jessica, Amy Robitzsch, and her husband Stephen, James McGinnis, and his wife Tara, Shirley Power, Michelle McGinnis, Kit McGuire, and her husband Josh, Erin Shannon, Lexi Banducci, Ben Campbell, and his wife Pam, Robert Campbell, and his wife Beth, James Campbell, and his wife Leigh Anne, Karla Henke, and her husband David, and Jennifer Milby, and her husband Greg; and 29 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 24, 2022, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, Ind.) with cremation to follow according to Bill’s wishes.
A service celebrating Bill’s life will be held at First Capital Christian Church in Corydon, Ind., at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 26.
