Corydon Centralā€™s Ava Weber was named the District 3 girlsā€™ Player of the Week while North Harrisonā€™s Diana Burgher was an honorable mention in the Week 14 IBCA/Franciscan Health Player of the Week Honors.

Weber was selected for her play during the Lady Panthersā€™ opening game Feb. 1 in Class 3A sectional play at North Harrison. The Lady Panthers opened sectional play with a 52-39 win over Charlestown. A 5-foot 11 junior wing, Weber was tough to stop, scoring 29 of her teamā€™s 52 points. She was 11 of 21 shooting and made seven free throws on the evening. She also collected six rebounds and stole the ball twice.

When the Lady Panthers returned to action on Feb. 5, they took down Salem, 59-52, in a hard-fought effort. Weber was again key, scoring 23 points and grabbing 12 caroms (six offensive), posting a double-double for Corydon Central.

Player of the Week winners are chosen each week from each of the Indiana High School Athletic Associationā€™s three districts. Girlsā€™ winners will be chosen through the Monday following the Indiana High School Athletic Association girlsā€™ state finals. Boysā€™ winners will be chosen through the Monday following the IHSAA boysā€™ state finals.

Week 14 ran from Jan. 31 to Feb. 5.
