Ricki (Rick) Zabel Ricki (Rick) Zabel

Ricki (Rick) Edward Zabel, 66, born in Corydon, Ind., and raised in Lanesville, Ind., went home to be with Jesus on Thursday, Feb. 10, 2022, following a valiant battle with Guillain-Barré.

It is impossible to sum up a man of Rick’s caliber in a few paragraphs.

Rick made many friends that became family when he owned Down Home Pizza in Corydon and when he played in several bands over the years (Double Image, The Chase, Flipside, Dalton, Trick Nickel and Neon Moon).

He was a devoted member of Northside Christian Church and follower of Jesus Christ. Rick loved to give of his time and creative talents to projects, including house builds and service projects (“Faith” Hill) for church and anyone who requested his expertise. Rick had a heart of compassion and a servant’s heart and was always doing something to bring a smile to others. He went above and beyond in everything he did. Rick worked for Elite Home Builders in Louisville, Ky., where he was admired and highly respected. He was a skilled and talented craftsman and musician. If you knew Rick, you knew the most important things to him were not things, but his faith and love for his church and God, impeccable work ethic, music and the family he cherished and loved so well.

Rick is preceded in death by his parents, the late Walter and Thelma Miller Zabel, and sisters, Janet Zabel Ferguson and Shirley Zabel Satterfield.

He is survived by his wife, Tammy Nash Zabel; children, Autumn Zabel McWilliams (Robert), Daniel Kintner (Rebecca), Jackson Power (Katie) and Mackenzie Power (Dylan); grandchildren, Christian McWilliams, Kylie McWilliams and Dani Kay Baker; brothers, Darrell Zabel and Terry Zabel (Linda); his beloved yorkie, Paisley; and many extended family members, friends, band brothers/sisters and an army of prayer warriors.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 21, 2022, at Northside Christian Church (4407 Charlestown Road).

His funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Monday at the church with burial to follow at Palmyra Cemetery in Palmyra, Ind.

The family requests that contributions in Rick’s memory be made to the Northside Christian Church Worship Music Ministry.
