A Salem woman died last Wednesday morning when the vehicle she was driving collided head-on with a semi tractor trailer.

Preliminary evidence gathered by the Harrison County Sheriffโ€™s Dept., including witness statements, indicate Amanda Gibson, 34, was driving west on S.R. 64 when the compact car she was driving crossed into the eastbound lane of traffic and hit a semi tractor trailer at about 9 a.m. east of S.R. 135.

Harrison County Coroner Jeremy McKim said Gibson, who was wearing a seat belt, died at the scene of blunt force trauma.

The driver of the truck was not injured.

S.R. 64 was re-opened to traffic about two hours after the crash.

Harrison County EMS, members of the Ramsey and Palmyra volunteer fire departments and Indiana State Police assisted at the scene.
