Isabelle Ann Buehl, M.D., of Bargersville, Ind., passed away Sunday, Jan. 23, 2022.

She was born Sept. 2, 1934, to Joseph H. and Daisy L. Thevenot Davis. Siblings: Jesse Davis (deceased), Leanna Batman (deceased), Calvin Davis, Corydon, Jewell Gaither, Corydon, and Violet Fleshman, Corydon.

She was raised in Ramsey, Ind., and attended school in New Salisbury, Ind., where she graduated first in her class in 1952.

She was a member of Unity Chapel United Methodist Church.

She married Robert T. Buehl in 1957. He preceded her in death in 2021.

Isabelle attended IU Bloomington for her undergraduate studies and was a member of Chi Omega Sorority. She made her lifelong dream of becoming a doctor come true by attending IU School of Medicine where she graduated second in her class in 1959. She was one of five women in her medical school class. She was co-owner of The Medical Laboratory of Doctors until it was sold in the ’90s. She worked in the pathology department at Hancock Regional Health from 1966 to 1996 when she retired. She was chief of pathology and the first female physician at Hancock.

Bob and Isabelle were world travelers and adventure seekers. Their favorite place to visit was Switzerland. Their favorite place, though, was their home in Bargersville, Arrowhead Farm, where they lived a quiet life enjoying horses, dogs, cats, wild birds and an abundance of other wildlife. She loved her flower gardens and her vegetable garden.

She will be missed by her many friends and family whose lives she enriched.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Brown County Humane Society, Brown County, Ind.

There will be no public services. Arrangements entrusted to G.H. Herrmann Greenwood Funeral Home.
