Barbara H. Mathis

Barbara Helen Mathis, 89, Corydon, died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2022, at The Waters of Huntingburg.

Born Aug. 16, 1932, near Cape Sandy, she was the daughter of the late Albert DeSota Cox and Ethel Agnes East Cox.

She was formerly employed as a nurse’s aide and a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church near Leavenworth.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Mathis.

Survivors include a son, Bryan L. Mathis of Dubois; two daughters, Cheryl Lynn Culbertson of Dubois and Lois F. Mathis of Huntingburg; a sister, Sonya Elaine Hawkins of Richmond; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Thursday, Jan. 6, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church near Leavenworth.

The funeral will be Thursday, Jan. 6, at 2 p.m. at the church with burial in East Cemetery. Pastor Ted Hawkins will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Gary and Michael Culbertson, Angel Fernandez, Rob Garland and Terry and Blake Mathis.
