Eudell Wathen, 98, Lanesville, Ind., passed away Friday, Dec. 17, 2021, at Emma’s Place Assisted Living in Pekin, Ind.
She was born Dec. 6, 1923, in New Zion, Ky., the daughter of Charles Clay and Callie Spivey Farmer.
She was a schoolteacher, farmer and homemaker. She had once lived in Florida and had a great love for it. She had great passion for quilting, feeding birds, fishing and growing flowers and could name all flowers and trees. She made many teddy bears and quilts for the underprivileged. She was a member of Edwardsville United Methodist Church and was in the Willing Workers Group at the church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Curtis Wathen; two sons, Charles C. and James C. Wathen; and her granddaughter, Jennifer Carol Wathen.
She is survived by three grandchildren, Susan Wathen (Phil Johnston) of Corydon, Ind., Clay Wathen (Robin) of Lanesville and Joshua Wathen (Lee Ann) of Corydon.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2021, at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon. Pastor Cindy Osgood will officiate. Burial will be in the Lanesville Protestant Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2021, and from 9 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, also at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon. Masks are required.
