Book includes stories of ‘exciting times’

Jail breaks, lost relatives, ads for a wife, railroad accidents, attacks by birds, secret marriages, inquests, stealing skunk hides in 1909, a baby found on a dooorstep are just a few of the stories in the new book “Exciting Times in Old Harrison County” that is for sale at the Griffin Genealogy Library.

The book, which is available for $22, covers both The Corydon Democrat and Corydon Republican newspapers for the years 1906 to 1910.

Besides great reading for everyone, it provides a chance to see life in Harrison County more than 115 years ago.

The book has an all-name index for seeing if your family made the newspapers back then.

Profits from book sales go to The Hoosier Elm Daughters of The American Revolution for their projects.
