Emmett Edward Reed, 85, Corydon, died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2021, at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville, Ind.

He was born Nov. 23, 1936, in Laconia, Ind., to Jesse Edward and Zelma Blake Reed.

Emmett was a retired farmer and maintenance supervisor for Keller Manufacturing Co. and served in the Army Reserves. He was a wonderful singer and sang in a quartet while in high school. He was an avid carpenter, electrician, plumber and jack of all trades; was a friend and help to everyone.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Phyllis Gleitz Reed; son, Leslie Reed; and son-in-law, David Brown.

He is survived by his daughters, Krista Crawhorn (Buck) of Corydon, Shelly Brown of Belle Rive, Ill., and Vicki Reed of Corydon; grandchildren, Callie Meunier (Brian) of Huntingburg, Ind., James Brown of Belle Rive, Ill., Daniel Crawhorn (Rebecca) of Laconia, Ind., and Danessa Crawhorn of Jeffersonville, Ind.; and great-grandchildren, Kyle Meunier of Huntingburg, Addison Bedar and Tucker Brown, both of Belle Rive, Ill., and Jay Springer of Laconia.

Funeral service will be held at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Corydon. Pastor Evangeline Rajkumar-Anderson will officiate.

Visitation will be Friday, Dec. 3, 2021, at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon beginning at 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. There will be a short visitation at the funeral home on Saturday from 9 until 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery following the service.

The Reed family suggests memorial donations be made to Smith Campground United Methodist Church, 2640 Smith Campground Road SE, Laconia, IN 47135.
