Martin receives Harry P. Cooper Jr. Award
Pamela Bennett Martin, CIC, from Bennett & Bennett Insurance Inc. in Corydon, is the recipient of the 2021 Big I Indiana Harry P. Cooper Jr. Industry Award.
This award is presented in the name of Harry P. Cooper Jr., who began with Indiana Farmers Mutual Insurance Co. in 1936 and remained with the company until his death 55 years later, and whose concern for the image of the industry was paramount.
The award was developed to recognize someone who enhances the public image of the insurance profession through their professional activities and personal integrity in their business activities and their community.
Martin is the president of her agency, where she has been for 41 years.
“Always conducting yourself as a professional and being accessible in today’s world is extremely important,” Martin said. “I do this every day, and my staff does as well.
“Every conversation is important, and our goal is to get to the solution for them in the most cost-affordable manner and timely as possible,” she said.
During the last few decades, Martin has served on countless boards. She’s given her time to dozens of industry and community organizations, including serving as chair for the YMCA of Harrison County, Harrison County Economic Development Corp. board, Corydon Bicentennial Celebration and president of the Big I and Corydon Rotary Club.
“I believe being an independent insurance agent, we have the opportunity to serve our community in many ways,” Martin said. “I have been able to show my commitment to the community through my leadership in those organizations, which has garnered trust in me and my agency.”
