Paul E. Cunningham
Paul (Pod) E. Cunningham, 93, died Saturday, Oct. 16, 2021, in Corydon, Ind.
He was born Feb. 21, 1928, in Corydon, to Clarence Hays Cunningham and Elsie Pearl Lang Cunningham.
He worked manufacturing appliances for many years and was a member of the 432nd Engineer Construction Battalion in the U.S. Army. He served in the Korean War, where he built portable bridges for tanks to cross. He was also a member of the Corydon VFW, and he loved to fish and hunt.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Goldie Mae Sanders.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Troncin Cunningham of Corydon; daughter, Kathy Jo Schaffer of New Albany, Ind.; brother, Allen Cunningham of Sudlersville, Md.; sister, Betty Mathes (Larry) of Corydon; two granddaughters, Laurel Schaffer (Tom Marr) of Louisville, Ky., and Olivia Schaffer (Jacob Kincheloe) of Palmyra, Ind.; two great-granddaughters, Adelyn and Kennedy Marr; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 22, 2021, at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon. Pastor Webby Oglesby will preside.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Oct. 21, from 6 until 8 p.m. and from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Friday.
Burial will be in Louden’s Chapel Cemetery in Depauw, Ind.
The family requests that masks be worn.
