Schwartz among 2021 Baird award winners

Karen Schwartz of Corydon was among the winners of the 2021 Baird Excellence Awards for the Jefferson County (Ky.) Public Schools, which has 7,000 teachers.

She, along with fellow teachers Hilary Boles, Kari Doty, Emily Lane, Jeffrey Harden, John Tatman, Paul Vale and Jack Walker, received the Professional Learning Community Excellence Award. The team teaches at the Phoenix School of Discovery.

Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer spoke at the program, which was emceed by Renee Murphy, a former TV news anchor who is the JCPS’s chief of communications and community relations.

The Baird awards were established in 2013.
