SAC releases tennis all-conference honors
The Southern Athletic Conference released its all-conference honors for boys’ tennis on Monday.
For the fourth year in a row and fifth time in the last six seasons, Borden (11-5) dominated the SAC, winning all four matchups against rivals Lanesville, South Central, Henryville and New Washington. Kaden Holmes and Judd Missi posted perfect 4-0 records at No. 2 and No. 3 singles, respectively, while Kasym Nash and AJ Agnew did the same at No. 1 doubles.
Borden’s Connor Holmes and Branson Wagoner did the same at No. 2 doubles, yet they weren’t the only duo in the conference to post a perfect record. The Lanesville duo of junior John Albers and sophomore Landon Campbell posted a 3-0 record to share all-conference honors.
South Central’s Ty Jones had a strong year as well, tying Borden’s Mason Carter for both all-conference and SAC Most Outstanding Player honors at No. 1 singles. Jones’ only loss in conference play came at the hands of Carter, but the latter lost to Henryville’s Zidon Coats almost a week later. Jones also recently advanced to the individual sectional tournament after defeating Lanesville’s Jack Crosby in the New Albany sectional.
Due to the Braves’ dominant season both in the SAC and overall, Borden head coach Josh Nale won SAC Coach of the Year for the third time in the last four seasons.
