HCCS free community meals to begin Monday
Harrison County Community Services Inc. recently announced the Harrison County Community Meal program will begin Monday.
The community meal will take place Monday evenings from 5 to 6:30 at Corydon Presbyterian Church, 568 Highway 62 W. Plans are to provide hot, nutritious meals, although sandwiches or other cold food items may also find their way onto the menu.
The meal will be served as carry-out until COVID-19 numbers allow for larger crowds in the church building.
To receive a meal, enter at the back of the building. Picnic tables will be available for outdoor seating for those are who interested.
Harrison County Community Services is grateful to work with Corydon Presbyterian Church and its members to host the meals. Teams of volunteers from CPC, Old Capitol United Methodist Church, Corydon Christian Church, Genesis House and the St. Joseph Catholic Youth Group, along with several other individuals and families, will prepare and serve the meal each week.
“We are excited to be able to offer this service to the community with the help of so many willing partners,” said Cindy Cushman, HCCS Community Meal coordinator. “With the volunteer support coming from different churches, organizations and individual community members, it is truly being offered to the community by the community.”
Anyone interested in helping by donating a few hours a month is welcome to call Cushman or Linda Brown, HCCS volunteer coordinator, at 812-738-8143.
