Demo derby, monster trucks to come to Corydon

It will be a weekend of racing and extra-large trucks in Harrison County as the fall demolition derby and a monster truck show are slated to take place at the Harrison County Fairgrounds in Corydon.

The fall demo derby is set to begin Friday at 7 p.m. Those age 10 and younger will be admitted free, while a $10 gate fee will apply for everyone else.

The event will begin with a kids’ power wheels class, which is free to enter. All participating youth will receive a trophy.

For the lawn mowers derby, there will be a $40 entry fee, with a 100% payback.

The other three races Friday night will have an entry fee of $60. Pay-out for the Mini Madness and Gut and Go races will be $1,000 for first place, $300 for second, $200 for third and $200 for mad dog. The Bone Stock racing winner will receive $1,200, followed by $300 for second place, $200 for third and $200 for mad dog.

There will be no refunds for entry fees.

Inspections will be from 4  to 6:30 p.m.

Sponsors for the demo derby are Shaffer’s Towing and 135 Auto Parts.

For those still seeking thrills for the weekend, the Full Throttle Monster Truck Show will start at 7 p.m. Saturday. It is sponsored by the Harrison County Sheriff’s Dept., Eckart Supply, S&M Nix Enterprises and the Harrison County Agricultural Society.

Admission will be $10 per person (free for ages 15 and younger).

The show will feature trucks County Mounty, Super Trooper, Bootlegger, Dysfunctional, Bugzilla and Never Satisfied.
