• Hey, I just found out where you can get a good job, part-time job. Run for the county council. You can make $1,200 a month, retirement and free insurance. … you have to … sit in a meeting twice a month. That’s around $200 an hour, people. We need some young, fresh blood. It’s free to get on the ballot; just go down to the courthouse on the square and sign up. What do you have to lose? Come on. Everybody do it.

• I was getting gas today at Circle K on Sept. 9, and I just want to thank the two men that helped me get the gas cap off. One is a school bus driver for South Harrison, school bus No. 11, and another man works for Cedar Hill Cemetery. I really appreciate your help. Thank you so much. It’s nice to see other people still care about each other.

• There is a minority of people who refuse to take the COVID shot, the vaccination. These people have the right to refuse … At some point in time, this virus could mutate to be deadly and be immune to the vaccinations. Now when this happens, I want to hear what these people have to say about their rights then when they’re afraid to go out on the street or get around anyone else because they could catch something that’ll kill them. This virus at present kills many. It’s ridiculous not to take this shot. …

• For the record, a veteran is a person who served in the active military, naval or air service and who was discharged or released under conditions other than dishonorable. One does not have to “make it through boot camp” to become a veteran. There is no time in grade or time in service to become a veteran. Raise your right arm, take the oath of office and you are a veteran. For some (caller) to claim otherwise is incorrect. …

• Right now, the world’s population are in a war. We’re in a war against COVID virus. …

• Just because they were raised on food stamps because their parents were too drunk to work doesn’t mean they need to put Joe Biden down for giving people help on their benefits.

• You think you know your friend. You bail them out, help them when they need you and then, when they get back on their feet, they don’t care about paying you back and all. I guess it’s just like you give them free money. That’s your friends for you.

• My compliments to all the great staff at the South Harrison Park. Stayed there over Labor Day weekend. Park was fantastic. And a special shout out to a young man named Dayton … Dayton, keep up the good work. Many thanks.

• I am not one bit happy about the way Joe Biden is handling this deal with Afghanistan. I’m really upset with him. I want him out of there.

• I just seen where they took the statue of Robert E. Lee down. Been standing there 130 years. If people don’t want to know the history of the war, then they ought to take it out of books and everything. Just leave it clean out of school.

• The Jonesin’ 4 A Cure Muscular Dystrophy Association yard sale Labor Day weekend in Elizabeth was awesome. The lady that organizes this event, Pat Jones, is a wonderful and amazing person. She has a large group of volunteers to make this a huge success. These volunteers act like paid professionals, treating each customer with kindness and respect. Thanks, Pat and your staff, for all of your hard work. See you great people next year.

• I would like to commend the South Harrison (Community) School Corp. for instituting a mask mandate. It’s not a perfect solution, but it is a solution to keeping in-person school. We started out the school year with masking as a choice and three schools ended up going to virtual. So, I want to applaud the school board and Dr. (Mark) Eastridge for insisting on the mask mandate.

• I don’t care what the Democrats say. I’m not wearing a mask; I’m not getting the shots. And, I don’t think there even is such a thing as the coronavirus. This is fake. It’s all been made up by the Democrats. So there …
