Glade Appreciation Day planned
The Harrison County Native Habitat Alliance and The Nature Conservancy invite residents to discover one of Harrison County’s greatest treasures endangered prairie ecosystems called glades and barrens during the first Harrison County Glade Appreciation Day at Buena Vista Glade on Saturday, Sept. 25, from 10 a.m. to noon.
Attendees will learn about the rare plants and animals that live in this special habitat and what they can do to help protect them.
All ages are welcome. Attendees should wear appropriate clothing and sturdy shoes or boots. Bug spray is recommended.
The Harrison County Soil and Water Conservation District will provide a free lunch after the event. Register at https://forms.office.com/r/PsZeqRQH57 by Wednesday, Sept. 22, to guarantee a spot for lunch.
Attendees will meet at the St. Peter’s Church parking lot, 7780 Buena Vista Road SE, Elizabeth. The glade is across the road.
The Harrison County Native Habitat Alliance is a volunteer group organized to conserve the habitats of Harrison County by educating the community about the impacts of invasive species.
