John Wayne Reas, 75, Corydon, Ind., died at his home Thursday, Sept. 2, 2021, in Corydon.

He was born Aug. 25, 1946, in Corydon, to William Burdett and Faye Reed Reas.

He worked for Thienemans Concrete Co. as a truck driver for 23 years, was a member of the 1st Cav Air Division in the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam where he was awarded a Bronze Star and Purple Heart, and was a member of the Corydon VFW.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ronald Reas.

He is survived by his wife, Fern Melton Reas of Corydon; sons, Shannon Reas and Justin Reas, both of Corydon, and Wyatt Reas (Mandy) of Depauw, Ind.; brothers, Brad Reas of Alton, Ind., Dennis Reas (Cheryl), Mark Reas, Jerry Reas and Joey Reas, all of Corydon; and sisters, Debbie Wiseman of Elizabeth, Ind., Bernetta Tyree of New Salisbury, Ind., and Phyllis Hardsaw and Lori Sator, both of Corydon. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Kandyce, Alyssa, Taylor, Shelby and Emily Reas.

A funeral ceremony will be held at 12 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2021, at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon. The Rev. Gilbert Duley will preside.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, Sept. 7, from 1 until 7 p.m. and from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday.

Burial will be in Fairview Church Cemetery in Corydon.

The family suggest memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 1640 Lyndon Farm Court, Suite 104, Louisville, KY 40223.
