Phyllis M. Reed
Phyllis M. Gleitz Reed, 84, Corydon, Ind., passed away Monday, Aug. 23, 2021, at Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany, Ind.
She was born March 9, 1937, in New Middletown, Ind., the daughter of Walter John and Altha Richert Gleitz.
She was a teacher’s assistant, substitute teacher, worked in child care and was a lifelong farmer’s wife. She loved crafts and was a fabulous seamstress, making quilt tops and many of her children’s clothes. She was a member of the New Middletown Homemakers Club, was the Blue Aces 4-H Club leader in New Middletown and was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, where she was a member of the ELCA group at the church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Leslie Reed; and her brother, Verne Gleitz.
She is survived by her husband, Emmett Edward Reed of Corydon; daughters, Krista Crawhorn (Buck) of Corydon, Shelly Brown (David) of Belle Rive, Ill., and Vicki Reed of Jeffersonville, Ind.; sister-in-law, Rosanna Gleitz of Corydon; grandchildren, James Brown of Belle Rive, Ill., Daniel (Rebecca) and Danessa Crawhorn of Corydon and Callie Muenier (Brian) of Huntingburg, Ind.; and great-grandchildren, Kyle Muenier of Huntingburg, Addison Bedar and Tucker Brown, both of Belle Rive, Ill., and Jay Springer of Laconia, Ind.
Funeral service for Phyllis will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 10, 2021, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church near Corydon.
Visitation will be Thursday, Sept. 9, beginning at 12 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Friday morning from 10 to 10:30 at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon.
Burial will be in St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery near Corydon.
