Lillie E. Hammond, 86, Georgetown, Ind., passed away Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2021, at her home in Georgetown.

She was born Aug. 14, 1935, in Riddle, Ind., the daughter of Riley and Gladys Reasor Linton.

She was a reading assistant and teacher’s aide at Lanesville Elementary School and attended Christian’s Missionary Church in New Salisbury, Ind. She loved yard sales, collecting treasures, loving on people and was a tremendous hugger. She loved her church and had been a Sunday school teacher throughout her life at various churches. She was an empathetic listener to those who needed someone; she made meals and lended aid to anyone in need. She was a special aunt who was loved by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Edgar Linton; and two sisters, Betty Forbes and Blanch Hall.

She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Ralph E. Hammond; son, Jeff Hammond (Lisa) of Georgetown; daughters, Evalina Pinnick (Brian) of Georgetown and Karlana Rieck (Andy) of Paoli, Ind.; brother, Ted Linton of Indianapolis, Ind.; sister, Marlene Cook of Cookeville, Tenn.; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 20, 2021, at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Georgetown. Burial will be in the Taswell Cemetery. Pastor Eric Satterfield will officiate.

Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 19, 2021, and from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday also at the funeral home in Georgetown.
