S.R. 135 to get traffic signal modernization
Indiana Dept. of Transportation contractor Ragle Inc. was scheduled to start work Monday on a traffic signal modernization project on S.R. 135 in Corydon.
The project is to begin at the intersection of state roads 135 and 62 and work north, finishing at the intersection of S.R. 135 and Quarry Road. Seven intersections will be updated in this 2.5-mile stretch: S.R. 135 at S.R. 62, S.R. 337, Old S.R 135/Federal Drive, Landmark Way/Pacer Court, Interstate 64 east ramps, I-64 west ramps and Quarry Road/Sky Park Drive.
Work will consist of removing and then installing new underground conduit and cable, detector housings and loops and overhead signal heads with controller cabinets. There will be lane closures at these intersections while work is occurring.
There will also be some turn lane widening work done at the intersection of state roads 135 and 337.
Work is expected to be ongoing through mid-December. All work is weather dependent.
Motorists are reminded to slow down, use extra caution and drive distraction-free through all work zones.
