All-SAC softball, baseball awarded to area players
The Southern Athletic Conference recently released its All-SAC baseball and softball teams.
Lanesville won the softball conference title with a perfect 4-0 record. Henryville was 3-1, Borden 2-2, New Washington 1-3 and South Central 0-4.
The Lady Eagles were represented on the All-SAC team by Haley Gowens, Ava Kerr, Hannah Nunemaker, Ellie Schneider and Morgan Sonner.
Coach of the Year honors went to Lanesville coach Steve Sonner and Henryville coach Amanda Raine, while Lanesville’s Nunemaker was named Most Outstanding Player.
Also named All-SAC softball were Izzy Balderas (New Washington), Emily Cissell (Borden), Grace Gentry (Borden), Eryn Helton (New Washington), Riley Nunn (Henryville), Dilyn Roberts (Henryville), Emily Schottelkotte (Borden), Larissa Smith (Henryville) and Peyton Steward (Henryville).
In baseball, South Central finished the season with a 4-1 record behind Borden, which went undefeated at 5-0. Henryville’s record was 3-2, followed by Lanesville at 2-3, New Washington at 1-4 and Crothersville at 0-5.
South Central players named to the All-SAC baseball team were Frank Goodman, Christian Kiper and Wes Wilson.
Lanesville had two players, Brayden Kiesler and Jonas Powers, make the All-SAC team.
Additional members on the All-SAC team were Gavin Gentry (Borden), Sam Giles (Henryville), Bo Giltner (New Washington), Kaden Holmes (Borden), Dawson Hope (Henryville) and Dylan Toler (Borden).
Gentry was named Most Outstanding Player, while Borden’s Eric Stotts was selected Coach of the Year.
