A man who had a hand in overhauling outdated gas lines in Harrison County and served on various boards died Saturday, June 12, 2021, at his home in Naples, Fla. Charles C. Czeschin Jr. was 90.

Czeschin found his way to Corydon after his parents, the late Charles C. Sr. and Gladys Czeschin, moved to the former state capital where the elder Czeschin purchased an existing gas company in 1959.

The younger Czeschin, who at one time served as president of what became Indiana Utilities Corp., continued the expansion of services, which now stretches nearly the length of Harrison County after expanding to the northern part of the county in 2011.

Czeschin was elected to the Corydon school board in the 1960s and served on other boards, including the Harrison County Hospital, Harrison County Parks and the old Old Capitol Bank & Trust Co.

In 2002, Czeschin was honored for working in the natural gas industry for 50 years.

Czeschin’s funeral was Saturday at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon. Burial was in Cedar Hill Cemetery, also in Corydon.
