Linda S. Smith
Linda Suzanne Houser Smith, 71, Corydon, Ind., passed away Saturday, June 19, 2021, at Indian Creek Healthcare Center in Corydon.
She was born April 23, 1950, in New Albany, Ind., the daughter of August W. and Geraldine Mattingly Houser.
She was a retired custodian and cook at South Central Elementary School, had been assistant manager at the May & Joe Rhoads Memorial Pool in Corydon, was gate keeper at South Harrison Park and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lanesville, Ind.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Steven Smith; daughter, Shawnetta Smith Cassidy; granddaughter, Liberty Martin; sister, Sharon Marsh; and brother, Thomas Houser.
She is survived by daughters Shannon Martin (Dennis, Jr.) of Bridgeport, W.Va., Mary Ferree (Adam) of Corydon and Erika Campbell (Dustin) of Elizabeth, Ind.; son-in-law, Duane Cassidy (Beth) of Tell City, Ind.; grandchildren, Steven Cassidy (Shawn), Nathan Cassidy, Courtney and Cheyenne Martin, Cody (Hali) and Kyle (Hunter) Ferree and Brady and Waylan Campbell; great-grandchildren, Ethan and Levi Cassidy and Annabelle, Jax and Boone Ferree.
Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 24, 2021, at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon. The Rev. Pete Baumgartle will officiate.
Visitation will be from 1 to 7 p.m. also on Thursday at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorial gifts be made to either the WHAS Crusade for Children or to the Ronald McDonald House.
