Donald W. Reed
Donald Wayne Reed, 70, of Georgetown, Ind., passed away on Friday, June 18, 2021.
He had a life-long career in forestry work, where his passion was preserving nature and helping others appreciate its beauty. Don enjoyed cliff repelling, river rafting, riding his motorcycle, traveling and creating whiskey barrel furniture. He also liked music, singing and playing the guitar and banjo.
He was born on April 1, 1951, in New Albany, Ind., to Charles and Marie Kendell Reed.
In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his brother, Gary Reed, and sister, Kimberley Reed.
Don is survived by his wife, Peggy Conrad Reed; daughter, Leia Ruoff (Steven); stepchildren, Chris Gayheart (Cary), Jaime Booth (Corey) and Kacie Greenheck (Kyle); brother, Lloyd Reed (Donna); and grandchildren, Jacob Ruoff, Brice Gayheart, Hannah, Lillie and Max Booth and Kinsley and Freya Greenheck.
Cremation was chosen following Don’s wishes, and a reception of family and friends will be from 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 26, 2021, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany).
