Fifty students participated May 22 in the Southern Indiana High School Trap League at Indian Creek Shooting Center near Georgetown. Six local high schools — North Harrison, Crawford County, Silver Creek, Henryville, Borden and Pekin (Eastern) — competed in a six-week league that finished with a tournament on May 22.

Crawford County’s varsity team won the league championship. Team members included Logan Ritchie, Nolan Goldman, Gus Wright, Hunter Rossbottom and Cameron; they were coached by Tyler Lewis. The varsity team from Borden finished second.

North Harrison’s JV team finished first in the JV division. Team members were Donnie Elron, Tyler Herthel, Dereck McDaugle, Michael Curl and Elijah Burr.

The tournament championship was won by North Harrison edging out Borden in a close match. Team members include Johnathon Seitz, Bryce Delaney, Mason Luallen, Carson Ratcliff and Donnie Elrod.

North Harrison also won the JV tournament with team members Jacob Hammon, Tyler Herthel, Isaac Burks, Dereck McDaugle and Blake Jackson.

Winning awards for the combined league score for a male was Johnathon Seitz of North Harrison. The female award went to Mari Howard of Silver Creek. The high tournament score for a male went to Carson Mull of Henryville and high female went to Grace Hall of Borden.

Grants from the NRA Foundation and Midway Foundation made the event possible.
